Simon Taxacher keeps on leading the gourmet scene
Award-winning chef Simon Taxacher and his excellent kitchen crew are in a celebratory mood: 4 toques in the recently published Gault&Millau 2019 – maintaining their top position means cause for gratitude and even a pinch of pride! Austria’s principal gourmet guide has placed the Restaurant Simon Taxacher in top position – for the sixth time in a row! Gault&Millau 2019 awarded the top restaurant in Kirchberg’s 5-star Hotel Rosengarten 4 tasty toques and 19 palatable points – Austria’s highest rating! This confirms Simon Taxacher’s long-standing position among the country’s food elite as well as his eponymous restaurant’s place as Tyrol’s most celebrated gourmet temple.
4 Gault&Millau toques – for the sixth time in a row!
It’s the sixth consecutive 4-toque award – a stunning result for Simon Taxacher! ‘I would like to thank Gault&Millau for this award as well as my kitchen and service teams who deliver top quality on a daily basis. The recurrence of this top rating would be impossible without an excellent team behind me. Thank you – from the bottom of my heart!’ Satisfying the anonymous Gault&Millau judges next year is one of Restaurant Simon Taxacher’s kitchen brigade’s stated aims. But above all else, they wish to inspire the award-winning restaurant’s discerning guests with creativity, uncompromising quality and passion, spiced with international flair and Tyrolean charm.

What is Gault&Millau?
Gault&Millau is a restaurant guide founded in 1969 by the journalists Henri Gault and Christian Millau, who in 1973 championed contemporary cuisine with the slogan ‘Vive la nouvelle cuisine française’. The first German edition of the restaurant guide was published in 1983. The Gault&Millau ratings are modelled on the French school grading system on a scale from 0 to 20 points. True to the spirit of the founders Gault and Millau, the highest score of 20 is not be awarded in Austria, because ‘perfection is God’s preserve and beyond the limitations of a human being’. The judging is conducted anonymously by seasoned gourmets whose remit it is to judge objectively, correctly and fairly in a way that is comprehensible and amusing.
