Go on a golfing holiday and party in the kitchen…
Multi-award-winning chef Simon Taxacher’s Rosengarten Gourmet Golf Trophy on 2 June 2018 is one of the highlight events in this year’s Kitzbühel-Kirchberg calendars. Participants enjoy their favourite sport on one of the region’s best 18-hole golf courses, GC Kitzbüheler Alpen Westendorf, and indulge in superb food after the 9th and 18th holes when Simon Taxacher treats them to his first-class culinary creations. But that’s not all: the awards ceremony takes place at the Relais & Châteaux Rosengarten in Kirchberg and includes a fabulous kitchen party.
Simon Taxacher is among the most accomplished chefs in Austria and with his Restaurant Simon Taxacher at the Relais & Châteaux Rosengarten – the golfers’ hotel in Kitzbühel-Kirchberg – he has succeeded in creating an impressive retreat for foodies and connoisseurs. The top chef has invested at least as much time and energy in his restaurant’s redesign as in developing his culinary repertoire. The restaurant’s scaled-down design vocabulary is a playful reflection of Simon Taxacher’s fresh culinary approach. With his stringent quality standards, coupled with the courage to deviate from convention, he has achieved the highest rating of four Gault Millau toques. His personal style – a deeply-rooted French-Mediterranean inspired cuisine, both contemporary and creative, aesthetic and rich in contrast – is unmistakable in every dish.
The region’s newest golf course, GC Kitzbüheler Alpen Westendorf, stands out due to its utterly peaceful location and Scandinavian touch. Opened in 2014, the 18-hole golf course is situated far from busy tourist areas on the wonderful sunny plateau of Westendorf. It spans an area of 5,882m (par 72) and is sheltered by the impressive Hohe Salve mountain to the north. The flat and easily accessible course provides unforgettable panoramic views of the surrounding Tyrolean mountains, as well as a sporting challenge. The Championship Golf Course covers an area of 64 hectares and has been sympathetically embedded into the natural landscape. In spring 2015 it was presented with a four-star superior award by the Austrian Golf Club Association.
